Angels Without Faces
Adopt a Family for the 2009 Holidays!

Our most heartfelt thank you to all those care and gave of themselves for others. This year's adopt a family effort was an overwhelming success! Angels Without Faces was successful in raising funds to adopt 7 families and 15 children from the Little Flower Cottages for the Holidays, providing toys, clothing, baby care supplies and gift cards to families in need.

The Community Service Club in the William T. Rogers Middle School under the leadership of faculty advisors Jackie White and Nicole Malone raised over $600 for the families. All the people of Kings Park are inspired by the caring and commitment of our students.

Our Special thanks to Jennifer Arculeo, Paula Barzak, Mark Bailey, Joe Mango, Jim DiAngelo and all the good people at Astoria Federal Savings Bank for their tireless effort on behalf of our community.

Pictured above with Kings Park Ambassador and former editor of the Kings Park Reporter Mattie O' Riley,  Paula Barzak of St Vincent dePaul explained that these gifts are more important then ever, with over 800 local families in need, food pantries at an all time low and the economy in really tough shape, these gifts are very much appreciated and will go to good use.

Holiday Party Fundraiser!

Angels Without Faces celebrated our annual Holiday Fundraiser at DS Shanahan's Restaurant in Kings Park and raised close to $2000 Dollars to support families in our community.

We had a wonderful time with good friends, all a reminder why we are working to build an even better community, one family at a time, friends helping friends. Our most special thanks toe Joe Mango, Mark Bailey, Dena and Jimmy Shanahan and most of all our most special guest sponsor Jim Di Angelo!

Happy Holidays!

Texas Hold’em Fundraiser!

SM-Texas1.jpg

The “Angles Without Faces Foundation” organized their first annual Texas Hold’em Fundraiser and the Elks Lodge on Edgewood Avenue in Smithtown to benefit two local families who have recently experienced tragic loss and hardship as a result of an auto accident.

Event organizers Joe Mango and Mark Bailey explained how the event came together; “We wanted to do something different for our Thanksgiving fundraiser. That is when Paul Snead stepped up! Paul is a 2008 ESPN World Series of Poker Finalist and he enthusiastically agreed to be our special quest. "If it wasn't for Paul, I don't think we would have been successful. He gave his time, his money and his expertise.”

Pictured above Paul Snead sits reflecting on his missing pile of poker chips. “I wore my lucky Jets shirt, I don’t think it’s working for me, or the Jets”,  Paul jokingly said with a smile. “Everyone is a winner here today, as soon as you walk in the door. Hopefully each year this event will grow and help us to help our community, one person at a time. That is the mission of the Angels Without Faces Organization.”

Poker Lesson #1: If someone says that they have never played before, be prepared to lose your chips to them; explained Mark Bailey pointing in the direction of a grinning Joe Mango, pictured above. Mark went on to say that the event was a wonderful success and that it’s because of all the hard work of the volunteers and sponsors.

“The Elks Lodge, is a wonderful venue, it’s a modern building, plenty of parking, easy to get to and the open floor plan gave us plenty of options to setup our tournament.” Mr. Bailey mentioned. “What we didn’t expect to receive donations from them! When the members of the Elks Lodge stopped by and gave us several quite generous donations…well just another reminder that we live in the best community on earth.”
